Sixty years of James Bond: Who will be next?

by

Producers are gearing up to radically change the role’s physiognomy – What will be the elements of the new protagonist

Dry martini and tuxedo British secret agent James Bond celebrates 60 years on the big screen today, and the big question is: who will be the next actor to play the iconic role after his exit? Daniel Craig with his role in “No Time to Die”?

According to Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael J. Wilson, the search for the new actor hasn’t even begun, although Wilson recently a little… hint.

“We won’t be looking for an actor for a while,” says Barbara Broccoli in an interview on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the premiere of Dr. No, of the first James Bond film, on October 5, 1962.

“What we have to do is start a whole reinvention of the role and that’s what’s exciting right now.”

But as fans continue to debate who could be the next to play this sought-after Hollywood role, what qualities will producers be looking for in the actor who will play Bond?

“First of all, we want a good actor, not necessarily an action actor, but someone who can play what we hope will be the challenging roles that we’re scripting.”he says Michael J. Wilson.

“This is, I think, a first, but it’s very difficult … I mean, if you look at the actors who played Bond, it’s very difficult to find commonalities.”

Sean Connery was the first to play the agent created by Ian Fleming. This was followed by George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and finally Daniel Craig.
