by

Leonardo DiCaprio’s father, George, made his acting debut with an extraordinary short appearance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film “Licorice Pizza”.

The love story, set in 1973, stars two newcomers, American pop rock band Haim Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman, son of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman. Also starring Sean Penn, Bradley Cooper, Tom Watts and Benny Safdi.

Leonardo DiCaprio was reportedly at the premiere of his upcoming film “Don’t Look Up” starring Jennifer Lawrence on December 5 when he learned about his father’s role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s film.

“I have not seen it yet, but my father, George DiCaprio, is making an appearance in a Paul Thomas Anderson movie! “Today was a good day,” said the Oscar-winning actor when he heard the news.

New York Times reporter Kyle Buchanan has revealed for the first time that George DiCaprio has been cast as “an eccentric hippie in a waterproof shop” in Anderson’s film.

Anderson told the reporter that he “created the image of a man who owned a wig shop and sold these water mattress beds” and that he knew someone who looked exactly like him – but could not remember who.

“And as if struck by lightning I remembered, Leo’s dad looks exactly like that!” said Anderson.

The director then located him and explained to him the character he wanted to embody.

George DiCaprio quickly agreed to star in “Licorice Pizza,” asking Anderson if his son, Leonardo DiCaprio, had told him he owned a water company.

“His name was Foggy Bottom,” the 78-year-old told Anderson.
