Two days later, goalkeeper Bruno’s visit to the Búzios club comes to an end

by

Goalkeeper Bruno Fernandes spent two days at Sociedade Esportiva Búzios, a team that competes in the fourth division of the Carioca Championship (also called B2). This was the time that passed between the official announcement of his hiring, on the club’s networks, and the dismissal of the former Flamengo athlete.

Bruno was sentenced in 2013 to 22 years in prison (later reduced to 20 years and nine months) for the murder of then-ex-girlfriend Eliza Samudio three years earlier. He progressed in 2019 to the semi-open home regime and is now serving his sentence in freedom.

Bruno’s arrival at the most popular team in the city of Armação dos Búzios, in the Lagos Region of Rio de Janeiro, stirred the spirits of its 40,532 inhabitants, which made the club give in to pressure to remove him from the cast and break the deal. The athlete does not play or train and is still prevented from wearing the club’s shirt. The F5 found that the president of SEB Renato Mattos has already announced the decision to the club’s advisors. The reporter contacted him, but he did not respond.

It is worth remembering that Bruno had been hired in 2019 by Poços de Caldas Futebol Clube (MG). The team’s organized fans said at the time that he would “certainly” have the support of the stands and that he would even get special music, but his contract was terminated twenty-three days after his arrival. In July of this year, he was announced by Atlético Carioca, which plays in the Campeonato Carioca’s Série C, and spent less than a month at the club.

Residents of Búzios marked a demonstration this Friday (7), at 4 pm, in front of the club’s headquarters to reject the hiring of Bruno Fernandes. The symbolic act was maintained even with the announcement of the removal of the player circulating around the city. Representatives of various movements such as the Olga Benário Movement, the Búzios Feminist Front, the Lagos Women’s Movement and the Buzianas Women will protest with a “we don’t want him” and demand public policies in the fight against machismo and violence against women.

The city had at least five cases of femicide in 2022. One of the most emblematic cases in the country’s history, the crime in Praia dos Ossos, took place in Búzios, at the end of December 1976. Ângela Diniz was 32 years old when she was killed at the age of four. shots in the face by her husband, playboy Raul Fernando do Amaral Street, Doca Street.

At the time, Doca’s lawyer, Evandro Lins e Silva, claimed that his client would have killed “for love” and acted in “legitimate defense of honor”: Ângela would be a “lascivious Venus” who invited “others and others” to bed of the couple, while the playboy was a “handsome and hardworking young man”.
