My walk in the French capital starts from the street Censier in the 5th arrondissement and a picturesque neighborhood of the city, here where a surprise and a distinguished guest await me.

I meet the Michelin-starred Greek chef Andreas Mavromatis out of his first culinary child. From the “Delights of Venus” which he opened in 1981 we walk together to the restaurant on Daubenton Street.

In the “Mavrommatis – Le Restaurant” the flavors of Greek and Cypriot cuisine fascinate everyone from Emmanuel Macron and Nicolas Sarkozy to Catherine Deneuve and Jean Paul Gaultier. Carla Bruni and Brigitte Macron they order food at home while Stefanos Tsitsipas and Garry Kasparov regularly book a table.

Andreas Mavromatis was born in a small village in Cyprus, where he and his parents used to cultivate the family’s field, a process that, as he says, defined his personal taste journey. He found himself in Paris as a student, but instinct quickly led him to the kitchen and to what became the love of his life: culinary creation. Using Greek products such as feta cheese, halloumi, yogurt, olive oil and graviera as raw material, he managed to join the elite of Michelin-starred chefs and, as the French Libération writes, neutralize the culinary chauvinism of the French.
