Politics, jealousy and female rivalry: Understand the fight between Carlinhos Maia and sister-in-law

by

The names of influencers Carlinhos Maia, 31, and Emily Garcia, 21, dominated the most talked about topics on Twitter this Monday morning (10). All because they started a riot at Casa da Barra – the comedian’s mansion in Barra de São Miguel, Alagoas. The fight involved everything from female rivalry to political positioning.

On Sunday night (9), Maia, her husband Lucas Guimarães, her brother-in-law Babal Guimarães and Emily Garcia, Babal’s wife, went to the mansion to attend a dance competition that involved other influencers, in which they would be judges. The idea was for influencers to dance to the sound of the wall and receive a note.

The discomfort started after Emily was accused of being jealous of the dancer Thammy, in Maia’s Stories. “There’s going to be a girl coming in now that Babal was watching, like everyone else, Emily freaked out, but she really freaked out,” said the comedian. “The professional has nothing to do with the personal”, countered the influencer, who gave the dancer a four.

At another time, Emily went to her Stories and stated that she was prevented from speaking into the microphone after not accepting “doing the L” with her hand, a symbol that is linked to former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). “I was told to do the L, but I was blocked from speaking into the microphone for my part. My speech cannot be spoken”, she said, who later claimed to be “anti-Lula”.

Moments later, a follower of Emily said that everything would have been caused by “jealousy” and the influencer countered by saying that Maia “loves to do female rivalry, gives engagement”. The situation got out of control and so the comedian decided to do a live to respond to his sister-in-law, and ended up crying when he said he “couldn’t take it anymore” the situation.

“I hope Emily, you use this to stop this annoying victimization, I think it sucks. I admired you a lot, but after that,” he lamented, who unfollowed the influencer on Instagram. Maia also claimed that Babal, her brother-in-law, was crying and having an anxiety attack. At dawn, the influencer apologized to the guests and asked them not to attack Emily.

The influencer deleted all the Stories she made during the night and said that Casa da Barra was no longer a place she would like to go. “It’s not a place for me anymore, it’s not a place for my family anymore, and that’s okay. There are cycles that start and end. But the bar’s house is very necessary,” she said.
