The Big Apple is full of historic sites, which have been forgotten and lost to time.
The Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Times Square and the Brooklyn Bridge are the classic sights that are visited by someone who will be in New York, the metropolis of the world, for the first time.
However, the Big Apple is full of historic sites, which have been forgotten and lost to time.
New York artist and photographer Aaron Asis decided to show the world these lesser-known and harder-to-reach landmarks of the city, through a documentary series, entitled Unforgotten Films.
The project introduces us to nearly a dozen locations throughout New York, from Ellis Island, the island where all immigrants arriving by boat to New York landed and now serves as a museum – to Hart Island, the place that served as mass cemetery of the victims of the covid epidemic two years ago.
It also features the now-forgotten New York State Pavilion, built in Flushing Meadows Corona Park for the 1964 World’s Fair.
“We want to give the world the opportunity to appreciate the complexity and beauty hidden in the city – from the collective voices of government agencies, community organisations, special interest groups, creative citizens” commented Aaron Asis.
