Speaking on the podcast, Hysteria, Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke expressed his delight at Harry Styles’ unexpected endorsement.
During his interview, O’Rourke said he attended Styles’ concert in Austin with a “Beto for Texas” sticker on his guitar. “Having his support and getting that push from him, it was really great,” O’Rourke said.
“And I can tell you that in the next few days, so many young people who really weren’t following my campaign, or maybe didn’t know that we had an election in Texas or the issues … have now turned their attention and are going and signing up to to vote. That was a huge boost and I’m so grateful to him,” he added.
O’Rourke said he spoke with Styles after the concert and said the singer had watched the recent debate between himself and current Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott.
