Ezra Miller pleads not guilty after prosecution, but faces up to 26 years in prison

Actor Ezra Miller, 30, known for his work on “The Flash” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, has pleaded not guilty to allegations of theft in Vermont. The artist appeared, accompanied by a lawyer, virtually at a hearing at the Superial Court of the State of Green Mountain, this Monday (17).

According to the website Deadline, the actor can still be sentenced to the maximum sentence of 26 years in prison, plus a fine. In May, he was accused of breaking into the home of his Vermont neighbor Isaac Winokur and stealing bottles of wine while he was away — the bottles would be valued at $900.

Amid the lawsuit, the actor’s defense agreed that he would not make any contact with the neighbor. In addition, he has already been accused of trying to asphyxiate a woman in Iceland in 2020, harassing a German woman named Nadia, hosting three children and their mother on a farm with guns, and has been arrested a few times in Hawaii this year.

After all the controversy and accusations, the actor broke his silence in August and spoke about his behavior over the past two years. In a statement sent to the website Variety, he said that he is going through a moment of crisis and assured that he is already seeking treatment.

“Having recently been through a period of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering from complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” it reads. “I want to apologize to everyone for being alarmed and upset by my past behavior.”
