This verse begins the third stanza (vv. 781-805) of Sophocles’ Antigone. A phrase ode to the love of two young people, which is known to this day. Love invincible in battle. When everything seems impossible and impossible, this source power is capable of overturning all forecasts and bringing new data. She is capable of making the impossible possible, because no one can go against the will of the heart. Even when the world does not understand a love or does not want to accept it, this does not prevent it from “nesting” in the soul of lovers and bringing ups and downs in their lives. And what may seem incomprehensible to others makes perfect sense to those in love.
Such a love full of contradictions and difficulties is that of Razan and Stratis, a Syrian refugee and a Mytilene, whose story is dealt with in the new drama series SKAI “Glycanisos”. Two people completely different from each other, with different origins, different beliefs and different social status. But love knows no limitations, borders and institutions. It goes against logic and breaks the barriers of social stereotypes. After all, isn’t that his primary nature and concern? To bring the flame to our life. That unquenchable passion, which makes us feel alive. That keeps us awake at night and gives us the heartbeats of youth.
A game of fate, which some call destiny, brings Razan to the path of the Army, and after two tragic incidents (a shipwreck and a fire) a love of epic proportions, the likes of which has never existed before, is born. And it will be so intense that it will disturb the microcosm of Lesbos. A society that within a few years saw its daily life change, with refugees becoming an integral part of its modern history. But is this society ready to accept such a love? Or will he fight him, until he is eliminated?
Hidden secrets, guilty passions and stories from the past come to the surface and change everything. And in this turbulent setting, the heroes dare to dream and fall in love, not caring what the world will say – after all, the world will always talk – and leaving behind their painful past. And even when they try to hide it, their eyes speak the language of love and they exchange glances that burn the heart. Deep down, we all want to experience such a love, unexpected, strong and absolute. And now we can see him every Saturday and Sunday at 18:45 in the afternoonthrough the frequency of SKAI.
