Bulgaria is the third country to withdraw from the competition this year, after Montenegro and North Macedonia due to the cost of joining the list of contestants

Bulgaria announced today that it will not participate in the Eurovision contest, which will be held in Liverpool, England in the spring of 2023, due to the cost of participation.

Bulgaria is the third country to withdraw from the competition this year, after Montenegro and North Macedonia due to the cost of joining the list of contestants.

National television networks pay an amount each year to take part in the competition – as an entry fee – which varies according to the size of the country.

Following Russia’s exclusion from the contest due to the war in Ukraine and Britain’s takeover of Eurovision, the BBC announced that some countries were asked to pay more to make up the “difference” as Russia contributed a significant financial chunk in the production.
