“It is a set of measures aimed at reducing gas and electricity prices and preventing speculation,” the French president said.

“The isolation of Germany does not favor either Germany or Europe”he stated the President of France, Emmanuel Macronregarding the negotiation at the Summit for the reduction of energy prices.

Coming to the European Council o Emmanuel Macron he stressed that the EU must maintain its unity in the face of the energy crisis, something he has no doubt about. He noted that today he will work with German Chancellor Scholz because “it is not good for Germany or for Europe to isolate Germany”. As he said, the goal is to reduce the price of natural gas, with multiple tools, found in the Commission’s proposals. In particular, he referred to the mechanism for imposing a ceiling on the price of natural gas, the mechanism already applied by Spain and Portugal and the common gas markets.

“It is a set of measures aimed at reducing the prices of natural gas and electricity and to prevent speculation,” he stressed. He emphasized, however, that at the same time “more fiscal solidarity” is needed, through a mechanism of guarantees or loans. “We’ll see what comes out of this discussion”the French President said meaningfully.

Besides, Emmanuel Macron announced the creation of a new energy corridor that will connect the Iberian Peninsula with France, through a “green energy corridor” from Barcelona to Marseille. As he said, this project will be completed in December, which will be financed with European funds.
