Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Documentary Delayed to 2023

Netflix has decided to delay the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle documentary until next year. The reason would have been the criticism that the fifth season of the series “The Crown”, which dramatizes the events of the royal family, has been receiving even before its release. The documentary series of King Charles III’s youngest son and Princess Diana (1961-1997) was due to air in December.

Rumors about the postponement of the series had already been popping up in the press. According to the website Deadline, the platform’s idea was to release the documentary with Harry and Meghan shortly after the arrival of “The Crown”, as a kind of “double royal bomb”. The new season of the award-winning series will address the extramarital affair of Charles and Camilla, just as he comes to the throne and would have been seen as disrespectful timing with the royal family.

Season five of “The Crown” will follow with its premiere date of November 9 and Netflix’s decision to delay has brought relief to Harry and Meghan. The couple had already been trying to postpone the project because they wanted “to soften a lot of what the duo said [no documentário] about King Charles III, Queen Consort Camilla and the Prince and Princess of Wales [o príncipe William e a duquesa Kate Middleton]” on account of the death of Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022).

At the time, a source close to the streaming platform assured that the company would keep the initial idea: “The plan is that it will be available in December. There is a lot of pressure in the direction, people connected to Harry and Meghan, so that [o documentário] be finalized as soon as possible.” Neither party has officially commented on the matter.
