Cardi B has lashed out at Madonna for suggesting that her song ‘WAP’ is reminiscent of her own ‘Material Girl’ when it comes to looks.
“I have literally honored this woman several times, as I grew up with her songs. She can do whatever she wants without putting on clown emojis and coming off slimy,” the 30-year-old rapper wrote in a tweet, which she deleted a few hours later.
“These idols turn into disappointments once they make it in the industry, so I hold back,” she wrote.
Cardi took umbrage at Madonna’s Instagram Story, which implied that her 1992 romance ‘Sex’ paved the way for the creative expression of today’s female artists.
The Queen of Pop explained that narrow-minded people have tried to shame her over the years for her empowerment as a woman, but also for coming to terms with herself.
“Now Cardi B can sing for her WAP. Kim Kardashian can grace the cover of any magazine with her bare bottom and Miley Cyrus can come in like a wrecking ball,” he noted.
