Fashion made from pixels instead of fabrics

by

The exhibition will run until February 15, 2023

Last March, the Metaverse Fashion Weekmany houses are implementing virtual campaigns and now the Design Museum Den Bosch in the Netherlands is organizing an exhibition that explores all aspects of digital fashion.

The exhibition ‘Screenwear – Exploring Digital Fashion’ curated by Anne-Karlijn van Kesteren examines how digital fashion actually connects to the human experience and highlights everything that is happening now.

“Fashion created from pixels instead of fabrics is almost imperceptibly part of everyday life for many people. We are slowly moving towards the metauniverse: the future virtual world of the internet, in which our physical environment will merge with the digital one” reads the description of the exhibition.

Visitors have the opportunity to discover the newest generation of fashion designers and meet face-to-face with hyper-realistic digital models.

In addition, they will be able to get answers to all questions about digital fashion. “What exactly is it and how do you wear it? Who is shaping digital fashion? What do these developments mean for the fashion industry and society? Will we all soon be buying digital clothes? And do we really want to…?” the organizers of the exhibition point out.

Virtual fashion

A concise timeline of digital fashion, spanning from the early 1980s, when the word “metaverse” was first coined, to the recent pandemic years, in which the industry’s growth gained momentum, is central, and visitors will be able even create their own avatar and try on digital fashion creations through ‘smart mirrors’.

The “Screenwear – Exploring Digital Fashion” exhibition will run until February 15, 2023.
