And yet, the two men have something, or rather someone, that should unite them – Why Perry ‘punched a hole in Aniston’s dressing room wall’
No… “Friends”, the exact opposite… The reason for him Matthew Perry who hates him Keanu Reeves for… some reason, and he doesn’t try to hide it at all in his new memoir, wondering why he lives!
“Why do unconventional people full of original ideas (original thinkers) like O River Phoenix and Heath Ledger, but Keanu Reeves does he still walk among us?’ he asks bitterly in his book “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing” (Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing), which is released on November 1.
And yet, the two men have something, or rather someone, that should unite them. The now 53-year-old “Friends” pal with the biggest demons made his first movie, “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon,” in 1988 with Reeves’ longtime best friend, 56-year-old River Phoenix. Perry played Phoenix’s best friend in the film, they actually became best friends during their shoot in Chicago, and the star writes in his book about Phoenix’s death from an overdose at just 23 in 1993: “The River was a handsome man inside and out, and too handsome for this world, as it turned out. It seems like the really talented kids are the ones who always leave.”
Perry tells how he wept bitterly when Phoenix died outside the Viper Room nightclub in West Hollywood.
Surprisingly, Perry hits out at Reeves again in the book, citing the popular comedian’s death Chris Farley.
While struggling with addiction at the height of his fame on “Friends” and playing Chandler Bing, Perry signed on to film “Almost Heroes,” a 1988 comedy co-starring Chris Farley.
When he learned that the legendary Saturday Night Live star had died of an overdose in 1997, aged just 33, Perry once again seemed to think it wasn’t fair that Reeves was… still alive.
“I punched a hole on Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out,” he writes. “Keanu Reeves walks among us,” he even said.
In his book, Perry writes about his decades-long addiction to drugs and alcohol, how he spent millions of dollars in rehab, how his colon burst from opioid use, and more.
