A happier fashion with vibrant colors, cutouts and a sexy look. This is what will be seen on the beaches of Brazil, according to experts on the subject.
With the expansion of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 in the country and the drop in the numbers of the pandemic, the bikinis and bathing suits created for the season reflect the feeling of resuming life after a difficult period.
The pieces for the beach also follow the general fashion trend for summer 2022. For this reason, items made by hand, such as knitting and crochet, are highlighted. Many famous, even, have already joined the news (check in the gallery).
Here’s what’s hot, according to three fashion consultants heard by F5: Ana Vaz, Marcia Jorge and Marina Giustino.
CROCHET
One of the main hits of the season are the handmade or handcrafted-looking pieces. Crochet is featured in bathing suits and bikinis, a fashion that was already seen in the 1970s and late 1990s, and which came back with a vengeance.
“These pieces gained more importance during the pandemic, because a lot of people dedicated themselves to handcrafted work. And this became more valued by fashion”, says image consultant Ana Vaz. According to her, this type of production conveys an idea of coziness and comfort.
Marcia Jorge highlights that other handmade items are also a trend, especially the beads that can appear in bikinis and bathing suits. “But they are stronger in accessories such as earrings, bracelets and bags,” he says.
NEON
Vibrant colors and neon tones are another fashion bet that extends to beachwear. According to Ana Vaz, this trend has been called “dopamine dressing”, a reference to dopamine, a neurotransmitter produced by the body that causes a sensation of pleasure and motivation when released.
“It’s the idea of dressing to feel good. And resorting to bright and intense colors is something we commonly do with this in mind. That’s why we see neon and other bright and very intense colors in fashion and also in fashion. beach pieces,” she explains.
CUTS
Swimsuits and bikinis with different types of cutouts and necklines are another trend of summer 2022. “It refers to a sexier aesthetic of the early 2000s”, says Marina Giustino, trend research coordinator at Criavel (an organization that offers courses in fashion more sustainable).
“I think it comes a lot from this pent-up desire for the pandemic. Now, people want to go out, show off their bodies, and enjoy life.”
“What’s cool is that I’m seeing this appear in plural bodies,” she says. For Ana Vaz, the cutouts leave basic pieces or in discreet colors with a bolder and more daring air.
PASTEL TONES
If, on the one hand, beachwear is sexier and more abused, romanticism is also on the rise. “There are pieces for all tastes”, says Marcia Jorge. Floral prints and pastel bikinis and bathing suits are examples of this, and are a counterpoint to neon.
“The soft colors are a style more connected to delicacy and romanticism and to this idea of lightly resuming life after the pandemic”, says consultant Ana Vaz.
STRIPES, ANIMAL PRINT AND DOWN
Among the prints, the highlight is the stripes. “It is a multicolored and vibrant stripe”, says Marcia Jorge.
The animal print worked in different ways, as well as the poá, is a trend, according to Ana Vaz. Versions of the prints can be seen in C&A’s new collection, which has Grazi Massafera as one of the stars, and also in the collaboration of actress Carolina Dieckmann with the Feline Beachwear brand.
MOORINGS
A trend already seen in past seasons, laces are still on the rise in the summer of 2022. “It’s a way that the person has to create and transform the bikini modeling”, says Ana Vaz.
“We see the straps of the upper parts of larger bikinis so that it is possible to make different ties. It is a reflection of the autonomy that people gained during the pandemic”, says the consultant.
Another highlight is that the simplest models gained adornments such as ruffles and embellishments on the straps of bathing suits and bikinis.
HIGH WAIST AND HALF-CUP BRA
Hot pant panties follow with their place guaranteed. “They are still on the rise and have to do with this idea of comfort, in addition to giving a retro air”, explains Ana Vaz.
The hang-glider model, a classic from the 1980s, is also present in bikini stores and manufacturers. In addition to them, differentiated models such as one-shoulder tops and half-cup bra have been gaining importance, according to the consultant.
There is also a tendency to take beachwear into everyday life, especially tops and bathing suits — the latter worn as bodysuits. “We also see lurex bikinis, a more sensual proposal, which has to do with this desire to enjoy the beach and amend it with the ballad”, says Marina Giustino.
