50 Cent has 47 million followers on social media

50 Cent Anthems for Greece and Athens through a video he uploaded on his social networks, the internationally famous singer after the concert that took place in the Olympic stadium of Athens.

This video is (in the framework of the agreement) one of the compensations that EOT had requested, in order to sponsor the concert it gave in Greece on Sunday and was very successful, after attracting thousands of people to OAKA.

Apart from this, other social media posts of the artist are also included in the compensations.

50 Cent has 47 million followers on his social media, especially on Instagram and is one of the biggest hip hoppers of all time with a huge appeal worldwide.

It is characteristic that this year he sang at the superball final in America together with four other artists of the genre.

The video also includes footage from the concert, which was a great success, thus highlighting the capital as a destination for concert tourism – which was also the goal of the Organization to promote when it made the agreement.

In the video there are shots of the Athenian Riviera, the beautiful coastline of Attica, while highlighting the possibilities that the visitor has for yachting and other high level activities.

Notice of the reasons for the concert’s postponement

However, the reaction of the companies that rent equipment for events was caused by reports about the reasons for moving the concert to Sunday, instead of Saturday. In particular, in a statement they issued, they note:

It was with regret that we watched over the weekend the postponement of a highly featured concert, that of Constantinos Argyros with the internationally renowned rapper 50 Cent. And it was with greater sadness that we read the announcement, in which the organizers cite as reasons for the indefinite postponement “technical issues that arose out of the blue and concern the impeccable sound and visual organization”. As the official body representing the equipment rental industry of all such events, concerts, conferences, exhibitions, corporate and social events, we consider that unfortunately this particular incident tarnishes the image of our country in the first normal post-covid season.

The companies that rent equipment for events, this summer season, carried out huge projects in this area with excellent performances. In order to leave no doubt about the adequacy of our technical capabilities, as the organizing country, we consider it imperative that adequate answers be given by the organizers as to a) what were the technical issues that led to the change of day, b) how is it possible to organize a such a big event and to discover these issues on the day of the concert, the corresponding technical studies and tests had not been done.

Having experience from dozens of similar events in the area of the Olympic Facilities, we know very well that the technical management of the stadium thoroughly checks the technical facilities.
How is it possible that an event concerning the 40 years of the construction of the said stadium was postponed due to technical issues, if all the controls and protocols applicable to the other events had been followed?

Reading in publications that the production in question was financially supported with €93,000 by the EOT in the context of the country’s tourism promotion abroad and given the disrepute that the event technical support sector currently suffers, we invite you to point out the real errors and officials who did them. It is an opportunity, on the occasion of such an unfortunate event, to start a serious discussion by all involved bodies about the way this kind of events are organized in Greece and about the legislative framework that governs them. Only in this way will our country be able to set the rules and foundations that will highlight it as a competitive destination in attracting projects from abroad.
The know-how and goodwill of some companies that respect and apply international regulations is unfortunately not enough.
