Singer Ellie Goulding used Twitter this Wednesday (2) to comment on the results of the presidential elections in Brazil. The performer of the hit “Love Me Like You Do’ celebrated the victory at the polls of the candidate of the Workers’ Party, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, last Sunday (30) and took the opportunity to deny support for Bolsonaro.
Recently, the current president’s team posted a photo of Ellie wearing the shirt of the Brazilian team, stating that she was rooting for the Liberal Party candidate’s re-election. The singer soon tried to explain that the image was to remember the presentation she made to thousands of people at Lollapalooza, in 2014, and marked her for having been at the very beginning of her career.
Ellie didn’t miss the chance to pin Bolsonaro. “Just to be clear, I couldn’t be happier that your reign of ecological and humanitarian terror is over,” she began, criticizing the current president. She, who was at Rock in Rio Lisboa 2022, in June, also wished that Brazilians would return to wearing the shirt of the Brazilian football team with pride.
“The photo I posted is from that iconic show expressing my joy of being in Brazil. I hope that you too can recover this iconic football shirt”, added Ellie Goulding about the piece of clothing that became a symbol of Bolsonaristas.
