At least 30 people were killed and dozens more injured after the Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.

On Tuesday night, a series of Israeli airstrikes were reported in Gaza City, following Netanyahu’s decision to attack troops in southern Gaza and Hamas’ failure to return the bodies of hostages still being held in the Strip.

There was no comment from the Israel Defense Forces on the attacks, reported by Palestinian media, which came hours after Hamas attacked Israeli troops stationed in Rafah, southern Gaza.

After the incident, Gaza’s civil defense agency, which is run by Hamas, said at least 30 people were killed and dozens wounded by the Israeli attacks, the Times of Israel noted.

“At least 30 people were killed and dozens injured as a result of the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, and our crews are still working to retrieve the dead and wounded from the rubble,” Mahmoud Basal, a spokesman for the agency, told AFP.

Associated Press reporters and witnesses heard tank fire and saw explosions in various parts of Gaza, including Gaza City and Deir al-Balah. One of the attacks targeted an area near Gaza’s largest hospital, Shifa, with no casualties reported.

For its part, Israel’s military said on Wednesday that a soldier was killed during fighting in southern Gaza as Israeli warplanes struck targets in the Gaza Strip, following allegations of ceasefire violations by Hamas.

Hamas discovered two more remains

Hamas claims to have discovered the remains of two hostages during excavations in Gaza City on Tuesday night.

Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades claimed to have found the bodies of two hostages and named them in the statement.

The Hostage and Missing Families Forum has not responded to the allegation by the time of publication, according to the Jerusalem Post.

“Hamas is lying about our hostages,” the Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) said in a post as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to launch heavy attacks on Gaza immediately, accusing Hamas of violating the ceasefire.

“Here’s the proof: Yesterday, Hamas terrorists were filmed removing bodies from a structure and reburying them nearby, before calling in Red Cross representatives to set up a staged ‘discovery’ for photographers,” the IDF highlights.

The chronicle of the violation of the truce

Israeli warplanes bombed Gaza City on Tuesday, shortly after Israel’s prime minister’s office announced that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered the military to immediately carry out heavy strikes on Gaza over alleged violations of the terms of the ceasefire by Hamas.

After a security meeting, “Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered the army to immediately carry out heavy attacks on the Gaza Strip,” a statement from the prime minister’s office said.

The Israel Defense Forces hit infrastructure used by Hamas in southern Gaza after members of the armed group opened fire on soldiers, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Hamas fired an anti-tank rocket and fired on Israeli Defense Forces troops in Rafah, marking another ceasefire violation by the armed group, the same sources said.

Hamas denies responsibility for the attack

Hamas has denied responsibility for an attack on Israeli forces in southern Gaza City, which reportedly prompted Israel to launch attacks in Gaza.

The Palestinian militant group also said in a statement that it remains committed to the US-brokered ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

Earlier on Tuesday, Israeli media had reported an exchange of fire between Israeli forces and Hamas fighters in Rafah. The Israeli military did not respond to a request for comment on the reports, according to Reuters.

“The truce is not in danger”

The truce agreed between Israel and Hamas is not in danger of collapsing, despite Israeli strikes on Gaza – which, according to Palestinian enclave authorities, have killed at least 26 people – as US President Donald Trump has said.

On a flight from Japan to South Korea, Trump told reporters on Air Force One that “nothing is going to jeopardize” the agreed truce.

The American president has justified the Israeli strikes on Gaza, placing the blame on Hamas. “They killed an Israeli soldier, so the Israelis retaliated” as they should, he said. At the same time, he threatened Hamas with annihilation “if it does not comply.”

Turkey accuses Israel of violating the ceasefire

Turkey accused Israel of “openly violating” the ceasefire agreement with Hamas, following fresh airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night.

In a statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, it is stated that Ankara is concerned about reports of civilian deaths and calls on Israel to honor its commitments under the ceasefire agreement.

“Turkey will continue to express its solidarity with the Palestinian people and support efforts for a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the region,” the statement said.
