Chico Buarque canceled the shows he would do in Salvador next weekend due to the death of Gal Costa. The singer-songwriter, who was diagnosed with Covid-19 and was awaiting medical advice to resume his schedule, was very shaken by the news of the loss of his friend this Wednesday (9) and decided to suspend the scheduled performances at Concha Acústica,

“Although he recovered in time to perform the shows, the impact of the news of Gal Costa’s death this morning left the singer-songwriter without emotional conditions to continue with the schedule”, informed Chico Buarque’s team in a statement on the social networks. Also according to the statement, “new information about the presentations will be announced soon”. Other artists also mourned the death of the Bahian singer.

Gal Costa died at the age of 77 and was one of the attractions of Primavera Sound, a festival that took place recently in São Paulo, but canceled her participation scheduled for November 5th. According to a statement from the event, she was recovering after undergoing a “nodule removal procedure in the right nasal cavity, carried out three weeks ago”.
