Johnny Depp parades for Rihanna’s brand and the singer receives criticism for the choice of the actor

The fourth edition of the “Savage X Fenty Show”, Rihanna’s lingerie fashion show, took place this Wednesday (9) and had the participation of several international models and singers such as Anitta, Bruna Boy, Don Toviler and Maxwell. But, who really caught the attention was Johnny Depp. The actor appeared for about 50 seconds in clothes from the interpreter’s brand “Umbrella” and “Diamonds” parading between a scenario that simulated a forest, while dancers do a choreography around him. Depp then walks towards the camera, listening to the song “So Fresh, So Clean”, by the duo Outkast, and ends his participation hugging a tree. Only that!

Captain Jack Sparrow’s small role in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise turned out to be a tight fit for Rihanna. Many friends of one of the pop divas did not like to see Depp in the parade because of the accusation of assaulting Amber Heard, while the two were married.

Despite having beaten his ex-wife in court in Virginia, United States, in June, in the defamation lawsuit between the actors, the Hollywood star became persona non grata in the artistic world. All because of the messages he sent his friend Paul Bettany, when he said he was going to drown and burn the “Aquaman” actress to make sure she died.

British singer Olly Alexander, from the band Years & Years, a client of Rihanna’s brand, was one of the first to publicly assume that he will no longer use the brand as a sign of protest because of Depp at the event. On social media, fans also criticized Rihanna and even remembered that she was also a victim of domestic violence. In 2009, she ended up in the hospital after being assaulted by her then-boyfriend Chris Brown.

Some critics point out that Rihanna’s invitation to Depp has to do with the actor’s loyal fans. They were perceived as future buyers of “Savage x Fenty” clothing. Not to mention that he signed a new contract with Dior, a French luxury brand, which reinforces this theory. According to the website TMZ, the deal is millionaire and would have happened just after the court victory of the star of “Pirates of the Caribbean”.
