Rapper Djonga, 27, claims to have suffered racism on Sunday (12) at the Mineirão stadium, in Belo Horizonte, when he was watching the final of the Copa do Brasil between Atlético-MG and Athletico-PR. The singer said that the video circulating on social media and showing him punching a security guard is an excerpt of a situation that had been dragging on for the past week.
“I could stay here for hours telling you what happened yesterday [domingo] at Mineirão there was still going to be a huge debate,” he said on Instagram’s Stories. He added that he was at the stadium as a guest of the CBF.
Djonga did not elaborate on the situation. “About racism, discrimination, these things, I can’t explain it. Some will believe, others won’t. Some will say it’s victimhood, in short, that’s it. Now, I reacted. Most of the time, I don’t react. If I do. react every time someone treats me with discrimination, every day my video would leak, you know? This time I reacted and it’s done What happened, I’ll never be able to prove it, but that’s it.”
“The details, the things that no one has seen, the images we have on our cell phones, it’s only in the courts, then the man there decides”, he wrote on Twitter.
The rapper also published a screenshot of a tweet by an internet user who accuses him of having invaded the box and assaulted the security guard. “Why did this person assume that I invaded the box, given that I was accredited by the CBF?”, he asked.
He added that going to his concert and yelling “fire on racists is easy”. “It’s hard to accept when I or anyone else reacts. Sorry, mom, today [segunda, 13], it’s your birthday and I didn’t want to give you grief. Of flesh and blood, and a beating heart. I remember [sic]”, he wrote.
In a statement, the administration of Mineirão said that it “regrets and repudiates any act of violence” and that it is available to the authorities to collaborate with the investigations. The case was registered at the police station on duty located in the stadium itself and is being investigated by the civil police.
