On Saturday, November 19, the film entitled “Revealing the Invisible Universe” will be screened at the Penteli Visitor Center of the National Observatory of Athens (EAA).
The film, created within the framework of the European program AHEAD2020 and directed by Fanis Matsopoulos, will guide viewers to the energetic stellar phenomena that produce X-rays and gravitational waves, or in other words to the new astronomy of the so-called “multiple messengers”. The film has already been shown in over 100 planetariums around the world and has been translated into over 10 languages.
The film will be prefaced by the director of the Institute of Astronomy (IAADET) of the EAA, dr. S. Vasilakos, while there will be a live connection with Pisa in Italy, from where the director of EGO (European Gravitational Wave Observatory) professor Stavros Katsanevas will speak.
The event is held with free entry and will start at 20:00. The program is suitable for people aged 10 and over. Reservations are mandatory, until the 100 available seats are filled, by phone at 210-3490022 (weekdays 10-3 pm). The event will conclude with a demonstration of the historic NEWALL telescope.
