Father of a trans woman, José de Abreu asks for R$ 500 thousand from Cássia Kis for homophobia

by

José de Abreu was never a friend of Cássia Kis, but says he always had respect for the work of the actress and for the woman who has already spoken openly about abortion and was one of the first to expose her breasts to encourage the prevention test against cancer of breast in the late 1990s.

Respecting her, however, does not prevent him from taking action against the homophobic speeches that the Globo professional colleague has been making recently. Abreu is the father of a 21-year-old trans woman and filed a lawsuit against the actress on November 8, along with psychologist Paula Dalaio Frison and three other entities linked to the LGBTQIA+ movement.

The group asks for compensation of R$ 500,000 for the crime of LGBTphobia, an amount that will be reverted to entities that defend against gender discrimination. “She crossed the line and one of the ways to wake up people who commit crimes is to answer for their actions”, says the actor to the F5.

“As long as all this is just delirium and does not actually threaten anyone, ok. But my fear is that this speech ends up becoming a real danger”, says the actor. He recalled that, in addition to the crime of homophobia, Cássia has been attacking democracy. “Participating in anti-democratic acts is considered a crime by the Supreme Court and she is in flagrante delicto.”

Interpreter of the character Colonel Tertúlio from the telenovela “Mar do Sertão” (Globo), he recalls the good relationship he maintained with Cássia on the four occasions they worked together [“Porto dos Milagres”, “O Rebu”, “A Regra do Jogo” e “Os Dias Eram Assim”]🇧🇷

“She was always a colleague who spoke her mind. She didn’t have much of a filter, but she was calm, you know? What is surprising is that these speeches now come from a person who works in an environment where the proportion of people from the LGBTQIA+ population it’s huge. She lives in a different environment”, she analyzes.

For Abreu, the professional colleague “is not well” and needs support. “I don’t know anyone in the family, but someone had to help her. It’s sad to see her at this time, I feel sad for the whole situation.”
