A fierce personal confrontation with unacceptable characterizations between Kyriakos Velopoulos and Dimitris Kairides unfolded in the Parliament. It all started when the president of the Hellenic Solution launched an attack on the government for “alleged patriotism”, causing the annoyance of Mr. Kairides who shouted at him from his position to bring the money he has from Germany to Greece to prove his patriotism.

“Listen sir, the money is taxed. It’s my wife’s. I don’t interfere in your family affairs. You who said that the Pontians are Turks have no right to speak”Kyriakos Velopoulos initially said, with Mr. Kairides reacting strongly from the seats of New Democracy.

“Oh, poor child. You will never be a minister again, nor an MP. Okay, don’t yell, I hear you. When you fight stupid, you fight back stupid. This man is paid by the government, go work in the private sector”continued Mr. Velopoulos with the following dialogue being typical of the tension:

Mr. Velopoulos: I knew you were bad, uh… you’re bad but not that bad…

Olga Gerovasili: Let’s rise to the occasion!

Mr. Velopoulos: I take it as malice, I will not take it as malice…

ND Member of Parliament: What the hell do you mean?

K. Velopoulos: Bad opinion, bad perception, does it matter?

Speaking a little later in the peristyle of the Parliament, Dimitris Kairides accused the president of the Hellenic Solution of hypocrisy regarding the money in the German banks, informing that he will ask to see the minutes of the episode. “The last thing the country needs is infamy and obscenity. He lost his temper and hurled insults”complained Dimitris Kairides.
