The American magazine Rolling Stone published an article this Tuesday (22) with testimonials from employees and former members of the Yeezy brand, a partnership between American rapper Kanye West and Adidas, regarding the singer’s behavior behind the scenes of creative meetings. The contract with the sports brand was terminated in October of this year, after the rapper’s anti-Semitic comments.
Collaborators claim that, on more than one occasion, West has shown his sex videos to the team, as well as explicit photos and recordings of his ex-wife, socialite Kim Kardashian. The sources also stated that this behavior occurred, in particular, with the women of the team.
A designer, whose name the publication does not reveal and who had worked with the rapper in 2013, claims that, in a meeting to decide the direction of the brand, West invited him to work on his computer. However, instead of finding work-related content, he came across a pornographic video.
According to the website, the employee, today, realizes that this attitude was a tactic by the singer to test the limits of those who worked with him, in order to establish unshakable loyalty.
As evidence of the rapper’s backstage behaviors and, in particular, those directed at women, the magazine cites a meeting in which West made a black designer sit on the floor for a meeting that lasted hours.
According to statements from a high-ranking official, during a job interview in which Kanye participated in early 2018 with another designer, he interrupted the candidate’s presentation and, again, made sexual references when saying that when people have creative blocks, watch 10 minutes of porn can help.
Another person, who also preferred not to be identified, told the magazine that he attended a job interview in Chicago and, in the middle of the meeting, West took out his cell phone and showed everyone a nude picture of Kim Kardashian.
For the magazine, an Adidas spokesperson stated that the company will not discuss conversations and private events about the decision to end the partnership and that the brand refuses to comment on any speculations.
