The educational and social activities of the National Opera continue for the second year the cycle of accessibility actions “All together at the opera.” The cycle aims at universal and equal access for all to opera and includes a series of educational workshops as well as the presentation of selected performances in conditions of universal accessibility.
For the artistic season 2022/23, the first universally accessible performance was given on November 20 with the production for the whole family “The magic pillows”, with music by Giorgos Dousis and libretto by Evgenios Trivizas, in the Stavros Niarchos Hall at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, while the second of the same production follows on November 30. In the cycle “All together at the opera” the National Opera includes this artistic season and the musical “Cheap cigarettes” by Panagiotis Kalantzopoulos and Renos Charalambidis, which will be presented in conditions of universal accessibility on December 4, 2022 and on January 5, 2023 at the Alternative Stage at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
For the selected performances, in collaboration with the company ATLAS EP, it has been planned to have seats for deaf and hard of hearing people who use Greek Sign Language (ENG), seats for people who use the supertitles (CAPS) which cover the entire auditory channel , as well as places for blind people and people with limited access to the visual communication channel, who will be able to use the audio description (AD) service. Guide dogs are also welcome.
