According to the Minister of Health, the application will be pilot and may initially concern some hospitals and surgeries
The Ministry of Health’s bill submitted to Parliament provides for the employment of NHS doctors in the private sector subject to conditions – which will be recorded – Minister Thanos Pleuris said on SKAI 100.3 radio.
He clarified that the application will be pilot and may initially concern some hospitals and surgeries.
In addition, he stated that there will be monitoring of the specific measure as he pointed out the desire of the ministry is that there will be no burden on the public. As he explained, we want to ensure that there will be no transfer of medical material from the public to the private sector and that there will be strict security measures.
The minister also noted that the bill would retroactively pay the wage increases and to doctors’ allowances from 28 June 2022.
At the same time, from 1.1.2023 an additional increase will be paid to the hospital allowance of doctors serving in ICUs and in addition a monthly allowance will be given to doctors serving in Emergency Departments (EDs) and to anesthesiologists serving in anesthesia departments.
Finally, as explained by Mr. Pleuris, if the abolition of the solidarity levy is included, we will be talking about a serious increase.
