Dior: The haute couture house through the eyes of photographer Sarah Moon

The New Look, created by Christian Dior in 1947, would define the house for most of the 20th century

In the three-volume album “Dior by Sarah Moon” of Delpire & Co publications, the photographer Sarah Moon explores the archives of the historic fashion house and its creations as different creative directors sat at the helm; from Christian Dior to Maria Grazia Chiuri, Moon charts the evolution of the house from its founding in 1946 to the present day. The first volume focuses on the beginnings of the house and the famous New Look. The second, on the development through each creative director and the third is dedicated to Chiuri.

The New Lookcreated by Christian Dior in 1947, it would define the house for most of the 20th century. When asked which period of Dior inspired her to shoot the most, Moon didn’t hesitate: “The New Look, which was a revolution in fashion and inspired so many other fashion designers.”

The third volume focuses on the house today, under the baton of Chiuri, who contributes an introduction: “Sarah’s photographs of my collections also succeeded in expressing the importance of memories to me, especially since I had to manage impressive legacy of the House of Dior”.
