One of the oldest districts of Athens is visited by Dimitris Skarmoutsos. A neighborhood with corners that preserve the glamor of the past but at the same time evolved into a bustling beehive of different cultures, Patisia.

The Martinis restaurant is housed in an old building from 1880 with a well-kept courtyard. A historical business in the area that has been operating continuously since 1910 offering its customers a wide range of options from spit meats, traditional stews and creative dishes. A restaurant that is in the heart of the local residents and opened its warmest embrace for Dimitris Skarmoutsos.

The multicultural character that Patisia has shaped in recent decades created the need for shops that would offer their residents products from Asia, Africa and central Europe. Baltika Market on Acharnon was created by Mr. Stefanos for this very reason! In its long corridors, Dimitris Skarmoutsos discovers a multitude of products, of which the “pelmeni”, Russian dumplings filled with meat, vegetables or potatoes, definitely stand out.

The next stop is quite different from what we have seen so far since at Noma – Dog & Cat Eatery located on the border with Galatsi they cook for man’s best friends! The workshop in a small bakery prepares cookies for dogs and cats and cooks fresh food for our pets.

The tour of the historical Patisia could not but include a stop at the historical Hara Patisserie, well-known to the residents of the area, and not only that. Two of its very famous specialties are the Chicago ice cream for chocolate lovers and the civil Ekmek with cream ice cream made according to the traditional recipe.

Returning to the studio, Dimitris Skarmoutsos prepares for us salmon breaded in sesame and sweet and sour cabbage salad and a chicken roll with prosciutto, cream cheese and mustard sauce.

See you next week in another neighborhood!
