‘We almost died from the heart’, say musicians who inspired dance in Brazil’s victory

Members of the group Os Quebradeiras, Gustavinho, Zelé, RK and LC watched together the game between Brazil and South Korea in the round of 16 of the World Cup this Monday (5). When the team’s first goal came out in the 4-1 victory, the quartet perhaps celebrated more than most people.

There was a dose of surprise in the little dance transmitted to the entire planet by the goal scorer, Vini Jr, accompanied by Neymar, Lucas Paquetá and Raphinha. The quartet danced part of the choreography of the band’s most recent hit, “Pagodão do Birimbola”.

“We didn’t expect it because in the game against Switzerland, Vini Jr danced and then the referee annulled the goal. In our minds, they were going to do another choreography or samba. We almost died from the heart”, tells F5 Lucas Alves, the LC, right after the game.

Childhood friends from the Fonseca neighborhood, in São Gonçalo, in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, four years ago they decided to form a funk group, which mixes other rhythms such as pop and rap. The repertoire is ready for other celebrations, guarantee the “fab four” of the municipality close to Niterói.

“We have five other songs with really cool choreographies that can rock Brazil’s goals in the next World Cup games. I bet my chips on ‘Na Rebolada'”, explains Gustavo Rosa, Gustavinho.

The song, in partnership with DJ Zullu, is on the soundtrack of the telenovela “Travessia”, by Globo. The new hit has 15 million streams on Spotify Brazil and reached the 64th position in the Top 100. “I think Vini Jr knows the choreography and will teach his teammates. He dances well. He and Lucas Paquetá. Neymar is more hard”, jokes Kauan Monteiro, Zelé.

The musicians are friends of Netinho, Vini Jr’s brother, who went viral in images that showed him in tears after his relative’s goal, which opened the gate for the Brazilian rout in Qatar. “Netinho likes our songs, they are easy to dance to”, observes Raphael Carlos, RK.

He is also grateful to Neymar. “He was the one who gave us morale for the first time. He did our little dance and it went viral on TikTok”, he recalls. This attacker’s prank alone had more than 70 million views on the network. The sky is the limit.
