We are “travelled” to the delicious destinations of Korydallos, a mythical settlement in Attica Dimitris Skarmoutsos on Sunday 11 December at 17.45, on SKAI. Korydallos is a neighborhood whose historical roots are lost in time as the first references are found in Greek mythology. Today, it is a culinary destination for the general public with historic shops but also new additions with interesting concepts.

A point of reference for gourmets in the area is the neighborhood pizzeria “Toxotes”. There we are greeted by Lazaros, who learned from his mother to make pizza with an emphasis on pure ingredients and bakes it in pans that make it even more fluffy.

A modern tavern with the imaginative name “Suzy Tros”, is Dimitris Skarmoutsou’s next stop. A very beautiful and warm place that the two owners, the twin Karagiannis brothers, built with their own hands, with very careful food and ethnic touches that stand out.

For meat lovers, “Steak Alive” is a truly beautiful restaurant, housed in a pre-war Korydallos mansion, one of the few remaining in the area and an architectural example of the art deco movement in Attica. This special “meat shop” with its aged meats and special cuts, is perfectly adapted to the economic and neighborhood tastes of the area.

Dimitris Skarmoutsou’s walk around the neighborhood could not miss “Kohili”, a historic shop that for many has the best souvlaki in the area. Favorite dish, the charcoal-grilled pita, with burger, tomato, onion and an incredible sauce on top.

Such a tour certainly whets the appetite! Dimitris Skarmoutsos returns to the studio and prepares two delicious recipes, baked rigatoni with red béchamel and beef steak with red wine sauce and caramelized vegetables!
