Nick Carter returns to the stage after sexual assault allegation

Member of the group Backstreet Boys, singer Nick Carter, 42, returned to the stage after being the subject of a complaint of sexual abuse. He performed alongside the musical group this Saturday (10), at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The complaint was made by a woman named Shannon Ruth, on December 8th. She alleges that Carter forced her to perform oral sex on him and then forced her into bed while calling her a “retarded bitch”. The act allegedly took place in 2001, when Ruth was 17 and Carter was 21.

Now 39, Ruth says she wants to be compensated for what happened, which allegedly happened on the band’s tour bus. Documents allege that the woman was a virgin at the time and that she contracted HPV after the encounter.

Carter’s lawyer, Michael Holtz, denied Ruth’s claims in a statement sent to the Daily Mail. “This allegation about an incident that allegedly took place over 20 years ago is not only legally without merit, but also completely false,” he wrote.

The singer, however, has not yet publicly manifested himself and has focused on his family and the schedule of presentations he had to fulfill. Carter is married to Lauren Kitt, and has three children, Odin, 6, Saoirse, 3, and Pea, 1. On Friday (9), he shared a photo with the family.
