Multi-talented actress and producer Reese Witherspoon adapts the best-selling novel “Daisy Jones & The Six” in a TV series, and we’re all looking forward to it.
Written by Taylor Jenkins-Reid, the New York Times bestseller was released in 2019 and tells a story of music, fame and fortune, set in 1970s Los Angeles. Garnering five-star reviews, the remarkable novel explores sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll.
But how did it end up in the hands of the actress?
Reese, reading the book, wanted to write her review, a review that made it onto the cover of the published book. Her review stated: “I fell head over heels for the heroine Daisy and devoured the book in one day.” So it’s no surprise that Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine production company is behind the book’s TV adaptation, along with Amazon Studios.
When is Daisy Jones & The Six coming out?
On December 6, Vanity Fair revealed that “Daisy Jones & The Six” will make its television debut on March 3, 2023. Once released, the 12-episode series will be available on Amazon Prime Video.

The plot
The novel ‘The Daisy Jones & The Six’ is set in the 1970s and follows the main character, solo singer Daisy Jones. The in-demand star finds a home with her band, The Six, but splits with them after one album. Chaos and drama ensue, especially when the band’s de facto leader, Billy Dunne, clashes with Daisy… about just about everything.
Although the book is written in the form of a documentary, the story is fictional. Witherspoon’s TV adaptation of the book is also set to feature performances by real-life rock stars, including Iggy Pop, Jimmy Page and ‘groupie’ Sable Starr.
However, although this is a fictional story, Jenkins-Reid revealed to Hello Sunshine that the relationship between Daisy and Billy was based on Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham.
The cast
Casting for the highly anticipated series includes Riley Keough, as Daisy Jones. Keough is the famous granddaughter of Elvis Presley. Also, Sam Claflin will play Billy Dunne, Suki Waterhouse will play Karen Sirko, and Camila Morrone stars as Camila Dunne.
Other faces you’ll see include Josh Whitehouse (who plays Eddie Roundtree), Sebastian Chacon (as Warren Rhodes) and Nabiyah Be (who plays Simone Jackson). Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in July 2018, when the TV adaptation was first announced, Witherspoon said: “As soon as I started reading ‘Daisy Jones & The Six,’ I instantly fell in love with it. I’m really excited to bring it to the screen with Amazon and Jen Salke.”
