End of an era. Henry Cavill announced his dismissal from the new heads of the DC studio on his personal Instagram account

End of an era for Superman, at least as presented by the British actor Henry Cavill. Cavill announced his firing from the new DC studio heads on his personal Instagram account.

Cavill met with new DC Studios head James Gunn, who announced another younger Superman movie on Twitter, as well as president Peter Safran, who broke the bad news to him.

“It’s sad news for everyone. Ultimately, I won’t be coming back as Superman,” Cavill announced in his Instagram post. “Having been told by the studio to announce my return in October – shortly before they were hired – this news is not the easiest, but such is life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and everyone involved the best of luck.”

“My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for will never be outdone. It’s been a fun ride with you all.”

It is noted that Superman fans wanted Cavill to return to the titular role, and his appearance in Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam had caused excitement. For many, he is considered to be the best Superman since the iconic one Christopher Rief.
