From Palmirinha to ex-Masterchef, see recipes for famous Christmas dishes

The end of the year celebrations are usually full of hugs, gifts and purposes for the new year. But what is really not lacking is food. In addition to the traditional turkey, suckling pig, Christmas rice and French toast, many other recipes are usually created according to the habits of each family and special for the date.

The cook and presenter Palmirinha Onofre, 90, has already shared thousands of recipes in her programs, but just talking about Christmas, she immediately thinks of French toast. “I learned how to make this recipe from my mother when I was a child,” she recalls. According to her, the dish was indispensable in the family’s hearty suppers.

“To this day, this is the recipe that my daughters and grandchildren always ask me to make. Even my great-grandchildren love it”, she says. Palmirinha says that, in her childhood, instead of making the recipe with condensed milk, her mother used milk and sugar. He mixed the two “until it turned into a very tasty cream”. For actress Roberta Rodrigues, 39, French toast is also the most special dish, but at her house, the preparation is with condensed milk. “It’s something that I can never miss. It brings back memories of my childhood, family and my backyard in Vidigal”, completes the artist who is on the air in the soap opera “Nos Tempos do Imperador” (Globo).

“I remember that even before starting all this stuffed french toast fashion, my mother was already doing that”, adds Rodrigues. In an interview with F5, she says that she used to add prunes and dulce de leche with her mother, and that now, when she cooks with Flor, her daughter, even Nutella enters the recipe. “We always fight to see which one is hotter,” says the actress.

Former BBC and influencer Viih Tube, 21, says that this year’s Christmas will be more special because it will be at her house for the first time and there will be no shortage of her favorite food of the season: chocotone. “I wait for the moment just to eat chocolate panettone. I love all possible recipes, and the more chocolate the better,” she says.

Confectioner chef Estefano Zaquini, 26, a finalist in the first edition of the reality Masterchef (Band), has strawberry cheesecake as a remarkable Christmas recipe. “It was one of the first recipes I made at Christmas for my family,” he recalls. He says it was an accurate dish since “it’s a recipe balanced with sugar, and my family doesn’t like anything too sweet”.

Also from the “Masterchef family”, Izabel Alvares, champion of the 2nd edition, has as her favorite recipe for the celebration the Algarve roll, “or orange molhadinho roll”, she says. The recipe is a classic from 1820, typical of the Algarve region, which is located in southern Portugal.

“It is a very important recipe for me, as it is part of my great-grandmother Maria’s recipe book”, says the chef. According to her, in addition to being a family classic, the recipe is served cold, so it combines perfectly with the tropical climate of Brazil at Christmas. “It’s also a gluten-free sweet option, as it doesn’t use wheat flour.”

Actress Ana Hikari, 26, who is on the air as part of the cast of the soap opera “Quanto Mais Vida Melhor” (Globo), also shared with us a recipe that she started to enjoy as a child. For her, the tender she always made with her mother is a trademark of her family’s Christmas. “It’s my favorite Christmas dish and even when I go without it [a mãe], I do to remember her”, he comments.

PALMIRINHA TOAST FAST

Ingredients (makes 8 servings):

1 bread for French toast or 4 French rolls
1 can of condensed milk
4 eggs
2 cups (tea) of milk or port wine
Frying oil
2 cups (tea) of sugar
1 tablespoon of cinnamon powder

ROCAMBOLE DE ALGARVE DA IZABEL

Ingredients:

9 eggs
300 g of fresh or refined sugar
2 tablespoons of starch
Juice of 2 Bahia oranges
1 orange Bahia zest
1 teaspoon of vanilla

CHEESECAKE DO ESTEFANO

Ingredients:
Base:

1 packet of starch biscuits
150 g of butter

Pulp:

1 can of condensed milk
300 g the cream cheese
2 cartons of cream
2 tablespoons of sugar (if necessary)
1 packet of unflavored gelatin

Coverage:
