The Christmas concert

The annual Christmas concert will fill the Museum space with well-known melodies and carols by the piano students of the Hellenic Conservatory and the Schola Cantorum of Paris (class of Agathi Leimoni). The pianists Gavalas Lefteris, Dafni Georgakis, Kounadini Anastasia, Kritikos Dimitrios, Stefanos Nikolopoulos, Irini Papadopoulou-Pantazopoulou, Selia Farantaki will play. A ticket is required to enter the Museum
Event at the Museum Cafe for the exhibition “The Pioneers” by Minas Mavrikakis
Tuesday, December 27, at 1:00 p.m., at the Museum Cafe
The artist, the curator of the exhibition and archaeologists of the Museum present in the Cafe of the Museum the exhibition “The Pioneers” and discuss with the visitors the emblematic work of the pioneers of Greek archaeology, whose research formed the collections of the largest museums of the country.

The festive Invisible Museum presents

The archaeologists of the Museum invite you to an extraordinary presentation of the Unseen Museum, the activity that for years has been bringing to light unknown antiquities from the world of warehouses.
On the occasion of the two Little marble Eros from Smyrna, visitors will tour the sculpture workshops of Asia Minor, learn about the history of the Greek excavations in the three years 1919-1922 and about the fate of the antiquities during the days of the Catastrophe. In this presentation, the Invisible Museum will go through the centuries and talk about the artistic transformation of the marble Loves into the Angels of the Divine Birth.
In order to attend the presentation, it is necessary to purchase a ticket and to register at the time of attendance. First come first served.
Educational activities for children
The National Archaeological Museum invites young visitors to take part in its specially designed educational activities during the Christmas holidays on January 4 and 5, 2023. Through these activities, children will make use of their free time, activating their imagination and developing their creativity.
More specifically, the following educational activities will be carried out:
Wednesday 4 January 2023 for children aged 6 to 8:
Educational program with visual workshop on ancient games.
This year the children will have the opportunity to participate in an educational program on Ancient Games and an art workshop. Our little friends will get to know ancient toys through a pleasant tour of the Vase Collection under the guidance of the Museum’s archaeologists and through tactile contact with replicas of ancient toys. In the art workshop, they will create their own works inspired by the relevant exhibits under the guidance of the Museum’s art department.
Time: 11:00 – 13:00. Number of children per program: 20 children.
Thursday 5 January 2023 for children aged 9 to 12:
Educational program “In the Mycenaean palace” with an art workshop.
Our little friends will explore the Collection of Mycenaean Antiquities under the guidance of the Museum’s archaeologists and learn about the Mycenaean culture and the Mycenaeans in the various aspects of their lives. They will also have the possibility of tactile contact with copies of ancient objects and with the help of the Museum’s visual arts, the children, inspired by the exhibits, will make their own works.
Time: 11:00 – 13:00. Number of children per program: 20 children.
