Mayer’s sobriety was catalyzed by the hangover he suffered after Drake’s birthday party
The singer and songwriter spoke about his decision to stop dating and meet new people John Mayer.
The Grammy winner opened up about the role his sobriety has played in his dating moods (or now, lack thereof) in the first ever “Call Her Daddy” holiday podcast.
“Dating is no longer a coded activity for me, it doesn’t exist… it’s not structured anymore,” she told Alex Cooper.
“I don’t really date – I don’t think I should, to be honest. I stopped drinking six years ago, so I don’t have the “wet” courage. I just have “dry” courage,” he added.
Mayer’s sobriety was catalyzed by the hangover he suffered after Drake’s birthday party, which he said took six days to recover from.
The singer has not had a drink since October 23, 2016, he previously said. While he may not be dating anymore, Meyer said he’s always believed that what’s needed is a long-term relationship. “Every relationship I’ve been in has been predicated on the idea that this could last a long time,” she said.
“All my life, even today, if you told me I could have a great two months with someone, but it would end on the first day of the third month, I wouldn’t care,” the singer-songwriter continued. “I’ve always looked for possibilities for a long-term relationship.”
