The gigantic stage of the inauguration party of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) mounted on the Esplanada dos Ministérios, in Brasília, draws attention not only for its 100 meters width and the central height of 30 meters. There is a representation, deliberately turned upwards, of the national flag in green, blue, yellow and white. The symbol also features three stars, one on top of the other.
“But aren’t there 27 (all Brazilian states plus the Federal District)?”, some ask themselves. The number three has a special meaning for the project: Lula’s third term as president, a historical and unprecedented fact. “It’s a celebration, we had to celebrate this victory after everything President Lula went through. It’s also representative of redemption and a perspective for the future”, explained Warley Alves, the artistic director of Festival do Futuro. He, Batman Zavareze and Andrey Hermuche are responsible for the whole conception of the idea, conceived and organized by the future first lady, Rosângela da Silva, Janja.
in conversation with F5 this Friday (30th), Warley and Zavareze announced some of the surprises that will be seen at the event. One of them is the tribute to Pelé, who died on Thursday (29), victim of complications from colon cancer. The King of Football will have a special projection on the stage, which had to be redone in a hurry. “The idea was to send a message of strength and desire for a recovery of health. Now, the context is different, and the intention is to exalt a hero of our country”, revealed Zavareze.
Images of Lula’s personal and political trajectory will also be projected on the screens, as well as other figures related to the country’s cultural identities. “Brazil is very plural and diverse, and the president himself says that. Of course he will be included, but that’s just a part”, said Batman, who, like Warley, feeds a few hours before the event with the considerable numbers of the event. There will be 65 artists divided into two stages (with approximately 1 hour of show for each attraction) and an estimated audience of 600,000 people. Paulo Vieira, Titi Müller and Muka are confirmed for the presentation.
The pair also comment that the two stages were placed side by side on purpose. While a show is taking place, a team will be preparing the next one next door. “It’s a construction concept, that we’re all together and collectively building a great show. It’s not the technical director, it’s not the lighting assistant that’s going to be working on stage. It’s the artist. And everyone is the artist”, explains Zavareze.
The pair also talked about their relationship with Janja. “She is a very attentive woman. She wants to be on top of how things happen, how she does it, she even wants to technically understand the whole process. She is available”, summarized Warley, who has worked with Lula since 2015.
“I’ve met Janja practically now, and everyone asks me what she’s like. Lula has charisma, that magnetism, and Janja has a smile in her soul. She knows how to listen. She has a position, she has an idea, but she always listens , tries to reflect and that’s admirable. It’s a privilege to have her around and everything was a single synergy”, praises Zavareze.
The only thing they didn’t talk about was their concern for security at the site, whose scheme is kept secret by the National Forces, precisely for the protection of those involved. “We are all in a vibration of hope, peace and that everything will work out in Lula’s inauguration, it will be beautiful”, dismisses Warley.
