Essentially, nepotism babies, (nepo babies for short) are a “label” for children who are lucky (or unlucky) to have rich and famous parents – therefore the “means” to make a career out of the family name – even if they are not qualified.
Striking examples of modern nepo babies are Lily-Rose Depp (center photo – daughter of Johnny Depp and French singer Vanessa Paradis), Lourdes Leon, daughter of Madonna and Brooklyn Beckham, son of David and Victoria Beckham.

The term ‘label’ has angered self-made famous kids, who claim they are being unfairly attacked by the internet and social media as they try to distinguish themselves based on their abilities.
For example, musician and actress Lily Allen defended “nepo babies” (she herself is the daughter of actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen) and accused the entertainment industry of causing “childhood trauma” because of the hostile attitude that respect working parents.
The baby nepotism debate continues on social media with posts from the famous kids themselves.
However, the term itself is new – great Hollywood actors have made careers without ever making such a fuss about family… background.
Examples: Nicolas Cage (nephew of Francis Ford Coppola, changed his surname to avoid comparison), Mia Farrow, Gwyneth Paltrow, George Clooney, Jennifer Aniston, Angelina Jolie, Ben Stiller, Liza Minnelli, Kurt Russell, Carrie Fisher, etc. a they are all nepo babies who surpassed their famous parents.
