An event for the promotion of the new theatrical performance “The boy in the gallery” which is screened at the National Theater, a flash mob where the actors brought to life scenes from the children’s play by Angeliki Darlasi – which children can watch with free tickets from the Municipality of Athens – revealed in the background a large part of the new lower Syntagma Square.

Mixed with the passers-by in the Christmas decorated square, the actors “entered” their roles and offered joy to young and old. The actors played in front of dozens of people, who stood to enjoy the show and the live music that accompanies the play.

At the same time, passers-by had the opportunity to get a first taste of the great aesthetic and functional intervention that is underway in the lower Syntagma Square. The renovation of the lower square started in the summer and after its completion will add to the heart of the city an additional 1000 square meters of free public space.

This is an intervention that is implemented in three phases. The first concerns the widening of the square, the second its main part and the third the part of Ermou. The project in its completion includes, among others, widening of the sidewalks in front of the pedestrian street of Ermos, creation of a new and quality public space that will serve as a gate to the commercial and historic core, planting tall trees, smart and safe pedestrian crossings, modern infrastructure for the disabled , pergolas for dense shading and modern lighting.

According to information, the completion of the first phase of the project, which concerns the widening from Karageorgi of Serbia to the Metropolis, will be completed in the next 24 hours.

The children’s theatrical performance “The boy in the gallery” can be seen on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 17.00, at the National Theater – Main Stage (22-24 Ag. Konstantinou, Athens). For children from 6 years old Reservations online from 21/12 at [email protected] (information: 210 5288170)
