Anitta, the Brazilian who is gaining more and more space in the international music scene and in the foreign media, spoke about her Grammy nomination in the Revelation of the Year category. When the nominations were released in November of last year, she posted that she never imagined this would happen.

Now, the singer is still surprised by the nomination and says it was “unexpected”. “It’s very special, I felt amazing. Some people in Brazil would say I’m not a new artist, but I’ve been working in Brazil for 12 years. Here in the US I’m just getting started’.

She even said that this new stage is totally different, like “starting a career from scratch”. “It’s so different and difficult to reach this other level, and work in a different market. For me it’s a revelation because it’s a new career, from scratch”, she explains in an interview with Billboard News.

About the acceptance and welcome of the international audience with the songs in Portuguese, Anitta says that she believes it will be well received and says that she is working on a new album that is being inspired by funk from Rio de Janeiro.

“It’s not easy to make things happen in my language because people aren’t used to the sound yet. But now, in my shows, people like my Portuguese. For that to happen, you need to build step by step. Now I feel more freedom to show my culture and show myself more. With this new album, people will think ‘ah, ok, so this is her”, he concluded.
