The nephew of former president Jair Bolsonaro participated in the coup attacks that took place on Sunday (8) in Brasília. In a post on social networks, Leonardo Índio showed a photo with several coup demonstrators behind him and said that his eyes were red due to the tear gas.
“Those who have a history of destroying public property are the left. [Eles] will focus on vandalism, certainly. But we know the truth. Red eyes means tear gas, fired by security forces, who did not focus on the outbreaks [sic] of destruction, threw at all the demonstrators. Look for the real vandals and also the cowards masked and dressed as patriots,” he wrote.
He also posted videos of coup-mongers being hit with bombs to disperse the crowd and said “patriots don’t commit vandalism.”
Leo was one of the names linked to former President Bolsonaro who failed to get elected. He was trying for a vacancy as a district deputy for the PL (Liberal Party) and has already worked as an advisor to the party in the Senate until he was exonerated, in September 2021, for not showing up for work since March.
He was also investigated for acts on September 7, when he posted a fundraising campaign for the date.
