The Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino (PSB), was called an “hypocrite” and an “obese communist” by commentators on the Boa Tarde Brasil program, on Rádio Guaíba, which belongs to Record, on Tuesday (17). Show participants also laughed at the minister’s physical appearance.
In the program, broadcaster Júlio Ribeiro spoke about the possibility of the minister’s brother, Nicolau Dino, being chosen for the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic). He also said that President Lula (PT) may not choose the new prosecutor through the triple list – with three names chosen by the body as a suggestion to the president.
“It’s ‘The Dinosaur Family’ [referência ao sitcom com dinossauros que tinha o chefe da família Dino, que era gordo]. Darling, I’m home”, said financial consultant Ary Alcântara, imitating the character and making the other guests laugh.
Then, lawyer Antônio Beck began to criticize the minister and talk about his physical appearance. “Dino, that one is total hypocrisy. Nothing against the obese, but he is an obese person. And an obese communist [o ex-ministro foi do partido comunista] it’s one thing… Three or four families could eat what he eats every day”, he said.
On Twitter, Dino wrote that he expects a retraction from Rádio Guaíba. “I heard that on a radio station in RS they made aggressive, prejudiced and criminal comments against me. I expect retraction. In any case, I advance that I do not envy the squalor of people who need a Penal Code, a Code of Ethics and a mirror.”
This is not the first time Dino has been the target of attacks due to his weight, in January last year former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) referred to him as “fat” and “chubby”. In conversation with supporters upon arrival at the Palácio da Alvorada, Bolsonaro responded to a sympathizer who said she was from Maranhão.
“[Um estado] government of the Communist Party of Brazil. Have you noticed that in communist countries the boss is usually fat? North Korea? Venezuela? He’s chubby, right? Maranhão,” said Bolsonaro.
