Film adaptation of ‘King of Pop’ life comes after ‘MJ’ musical on Broadway in 2022

Film production company Lionsgate and director Antoine Fuqua will bring his life Michael Jackson on the big screen.

“To me, there is no artist with the power, charisma and sheer musical genius of Michael Jackson. I was influenced to make music videos by watching his work. The first black artist to be played at high frequency on MTV,” said Antoine Fuqua. “His music and these images are part of my worldview and the opportunity to tell his story on screen alongside his irresistible music.”

The production of the film, which will be titled “Michael”, has been undertaken by Graham King (“Bohemian Rhapshody”) along with the singer’s family and the screenplay by Oscar nominee John Logan (“Gladiator”, “The Aviator “). According to Lionsgate’s announcement, the film “will chronicle all aspects of Jackson’s life.”

The film adaptation of the life of the “King of Pop”, comes after the musical “MJ” on the Broadway stage in 2022 with receipts of more than $83 million according to the Guardian.
