Prince Harry, 38, has become a joke in advertisements for sex toys by Lovehoney. The brand made puns with the title of the memoir “Spare” (in Portuguese “O Que Sobra”) to advertise products, such as gags with balls with the phrase: “Silence is golden, Harry”.
The jokes reference intimate revelations made by the Duke of Sussex in his memoir that sparked an avalanche of memes and jokes online. Among Harry’s revelations are that he lost his virginity aged 17 in a field behind a pub and that his penis was frozen after a walk on the North Pole.
On social networks, Lovehoney ads were successful among internet users and yielded jokes and memes, such as one of Prince William with the family clapping. the twitter user @BritishCfc suggested that Harry should present his brother with one of the sex toys. “I think it would make a better gift for brother after reading about it.”
“Oh dear, they’re going to revive the grayscale movies just for him [prÃncipe Harry]”, tweeted the netizen @colchesteravi1. The user @theroyalreturn posted crying emojis to mock Harry complaining about his family: “Because no one in his family reacts to his bullshit.”
Lovehoney’s head of sexual empowerment, Johanna Rief, told Newsweek that the brand had a long history of supporting the prince, but its recent revelations in the book went “a little too far”. So, she said, the company decided to come up with a fun answer.
“We have been and still are ardent supporters of Harry and Meghan’s journey, particularly the way they have expressed important issues such as racism, misogyny and bullying in the UK,” Rief.
In 2018, the company created commemorative products for Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle.
