Fox admitted fame and success got to him, with the actor even living in denial about his condition
Michael J. Fox will be long remembered for his role in the Back to the Future trilogy, which was a huge hit during the 1980s and early 1990s.
Now, during his latest project, “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie,” the actor has opened up about his struggles with alcoholism and Parkinson’s disease.
“It’s been an amazing life,” Fox said after the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
“Parkinson’s is a disaster, that’s real. You can’t walk and you can’t go to the toilet, that’s real. Walking, indeed, frightens men, But, if you pity me, it will never affect me.’
Fox also admitted that fame and success got to him, with the actor even living in denial about his condition.
“I was the prince of Hollywood,” Fox continued. “You think that everything you live is made of brick and stone. But it is not. It is made of paper and feathers. It’s an illusion.”
The actor admitted that he turned to various substances to help him cope with his ordeal. “I drank, to distance myself,” Fox said. “I was definitely an alcoholic. Today, it’s been 30 years since I’ve had a single drink.”
