F5 Award: Maju and William Bonner are Best Journalism Presenters

Presenters Maju Coutinho, 43, and William Bonner, 58, were named the best journalism presenters of 2021 at the F5 Awards, thus repeating the feat in 2020, when the two also won in the category.

Voting began on November 16th and ran until December 6th. The internet user could vote as many times as they wanted for the F5, Folha’s entertainment website. In some categories, there were campaigns by competitors and collective efforts by fan clubs, which boosted the dispute. Among the rookie categories of the year are best entertainment podcast and best streaming service.

This year, Maju, who was head of Jornal Hoje (Globo), took over the presentation of Fantástico (Globo), alongside Poliana Abritta, 46, after the departure of Tadeu Schmidt, 47, who will now head up Big Brother Brasil ( Globe). The journalist won with 62% of the votes, receiving a total of more than 22 thousand votes.

Beside her, competing for the award for best journalism presenter were Renata Lo Prete (Jornal da Globo, Globo) and Daniela Lima (CNN 360, CNN Brasil), both with 15% of the votes; Aline Midlej (Jornal das Dez, GloboNews), who received 5% of the votes; and Julia Duailibi (Em Ponto, GloboNews), with 2%.

Bonner, who is still in charge of Jornal Nacional (Globo), won with 35% of the more than 23 thousand votes. In the category, there were also Cesar Tralli, now in charge of Jornal Hoje (Globo), which was in second place, with 29% of the votes; Chico Pinheiro (Bom Dia Brasil, Globo), who had 19%, Márcio Gomes (CNN Primetime, CNN Brasil), who had 11%; and Marcelo Cosme (Em Pauta, GloboNews), with 6%.

In the newspaper for over 25 years, Bonner recently stated that Globo’s focus in 2022 will be the elections for president, governors, deputies and senators. Bonner promised attention to the matter, which will also take up much of the energy of other TV and internet channels.
