After AND the scandal with the insinuations of pedophilia in the Balenciaga campaign, many began to comment that fashion should reconsider its ethics
If Schiaparelli’s goal with the Spring-Summer 2023 collection was to cause a “craze”, then the goal was achieved.
The ultra-sheer dresses with life-sized wild animal heads unveiled yesterday at the start of Paris Haute Couture Week sparked a backlash from animal rights groups.
A disturbing video of #KylieJenner wearing a #lion head at the #Schiaparelli‘s fashion show. Although they stated it is faux, how could they possibly think this is fashion? This sends the wrong message & fuels not only the exotic fur trade, but #trophyhunting! 💔

Naomi Campbell took to the catwalk with a wolf’s head embedded in her coat while lion heads dominated the bodices of dresses presented by Irina Shayk and Kylie Jenner.

The animal welfare organization PETA denounced the creations. of the fashion house.
“The Schiaparelli house’s assurance that ‘no animals were harmed’ in the creation of this collection is objectively false,” PETA commented in a statement it issued.
The animal welfare group points out that the dresses in question glorify the hunting of wild animals’ heads, while denouncing the use of silk and wool – materials for which “silkworms were scalded alive and sheep were exploited”.
🚨 @Schiaparelli, @kyliejenner, @naomicampbell& @theirishayk must extend this creativity to be 100% vegan & exclude sheep shorn bloody for wool & silkworms boiled alive for silk! 🚨 pic.twitter.com/axz2mg8Xpv

Also, after the scandal with the insinuations of pedophilia in the Balenciaga campaign, many began to comment that fashion should reconsider its ethics.
The fashion industry needs to take a step back & reassess its ethics. First, we had the Balenciaga scandal & now this from Schiaparelli. This normalises, gives a glint of acceptability & makes canned- & trophy hunting of endangered species “trendy.” Faux or not, it’s in bad taste pic.twitter.com/VvC8fAMcyl
