A student who is also a student at a Lifeguard School saved an elderly man from a collision
A student, from Patras, who is also a lifeguard training student, saved an elderly man who suffered a heart attack from certain death.
Fortunately, he was there at the time a citizen was looking for someone who knew CPR and took action.
The girl who was at the scene gave first aid to the elderly man until the EKAB Mobile Unit arrived.
“I felt relieved, because helping a person in need and saving a life is the most important thing you can do” said Chrysanthi Poularaki
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in front of an apartment building when an acquaintance of hers saw the incident and knowing that she is currently training at a Lifeguard School, called her to go to the scene immediately.
“When I arrived, it was a friend of the man who was stopped, and he was an old man of about 50 years of age. I immediately said that I know CPR and started. When the ambulance arrived, they hit me on the back that they are taking over and I stopped. Upon arrival, however, I could see that the airway was probably blocked, as the man’s head was turned to the side. I immediately tried to free him, as I had been taught,” describes Chrysanthi Poularaki.
